Student Research is meant for university students to receive feedback on their research, gain new insights, understand practical applications, network with peers in the field, and exchange ideas while improving communication skills.

Student Research
Content
Submissions should describe original work which could either be recently completed or ongoing student research in any of the topic areas covered by the XICIMFAUNA conference. They should not be in submission elsewhere or already published in another conference or journal. Papers should:
    - describe the research problem
    - give justification and motivation for the research
    - have a very brief literature review - describe the research approach emphasizing on new and unique features
    - list the results and provide a discussion with contributions which your research has made to neo-tropical animal science.
Successful submissions would be placed in the extended abstracts archives as well as the Digital Library.

Requirements
Students must be pursuing an academic degree at the time of initial submission. Research completed while the student was an undergraduate may be submitted in the undergraduate category even if the student is now in the first year of his/her graduate programme. The student must be the primary contributor of the work and co-authors such as supervisors or other students is not allowed.

Submission
Submission should be done via the PCS Submission System and consist of 3 parts which, when combined should be no larger than 4MB. They are as follows:
1. A non-anonymised 6 paged paper in Extended Abstracts format.
2. Poster - This should have an appropriate level of detail and graphic design. For submission it should be reduced to one standard letter page in size and submitted in PDF format. This will evaluated on visual aspects and verbal discussion (50%) and the uniqueness, quality and significance of research (50%).
3. Proof of student status - This is a note signed by your academic supervisor verifying your university and confirming that you are currently registered in either an undergraduate or graduate program. Participants must be pursing an academic degree at the time of initial submission.
Submissions which do not adhere to these requirements would automatically be disqualified.

Selection
A jury of experts will evaluate submissions based on quality, novelty, significance to the XICIMFAUNA congress, clarity of written expression and visual presentation (poster). Publishing will not constrain future submissions of the same material for a future XICIMFAUNA publication. Confidentiality of submissions is maintained during the review process and all rejected submissions will remain in such a state for perpetuity. All submitted materials for accepted submissions will be kept confidential until the start of the conference, except for the title and author.
